Twilight Trails is the next Pokémon GO season, running from September 8 at 10:00 a.m. to December 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. local time. It picks up directly after Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale and leans on three things: more Paldea debuts, a run of Mega Evolution releases, and new Dynamax Pokémon in Max Battles.
The season was announced on August 24, and like every season, the details arrive in stages. What follows is split into what the official season page confirms right now and what has not been announced yet, so you know which parts to plan around and which to wait on.

Season Dates

The season uses your device’s local time, so it begins at 10:00 a.m. wherever you are. That is roughly twelve weeks, which is a standard season length.
What’s Confirmed
Pokémon Debuts
More Pokémon from the Paldea region, originally from Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, arrive during the season. The official page names Maschiff and Mabosstiff and indicates there are others it has not listed yet.
Mega Evolution Debuts
Twilight Trails continues the Mega Evolution focus that GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale started. Confirmed debuts:
- Mega Staraptor
- Mega Chandelure
The page states there are additional Mega debuts to come, tied to a Mega Squads event and the September Community Day Classic. Neither has full details yet.
Max Battles and Dynamax Debuts
New Dynamax Pokémon appear at Power Spots across the season:
- Dynamax Rhyhorn
- Dynamax Sneasel
- Dynamax Sizzlipede
Separately, the lake trio gets a dedicated Max Battle Day: Dynamax Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. The date has not been announced.
Community Day Dates
Three Community Days fall inside the season:

Featured Pokémon have not been announced for any of the three. The September event being a Classic means it revisits a previously featured Pokémon and its exclusive move, which makes it a second chance at a legacy move rather than a new one.
GO Pass and Milestone Bonuses
The GO Pass returns as a limited-time progression track. You complete Pass Tasks to earn GO Points, which raise your rank and unlock rewards. A paid GO Pass Deluxe offers upgraded rewards and faster progression.
Four Major Milestones unlock account-wide bonuses that last until the current GO Pass ends:
- Rank 1: Trainers level 31 and above get one guaranteed Candy XL when trading, plus one additional Candy for trading.
- Rank 25: Increased limits on opening Gifts, receiving Gifts from PokéStop and Gym Photo Discs, and storing Gifts.
- Rank 50: Double Daily Adventure Incense duration.
- Rank 75: Increased XP and Stardust from hatching Eggs.
These stack in a useful order. Rank 25 raises your Gift ceiling, and Rank 75 pays off the Eggs those Gifts produce, so pushing rank early in the season is worth more than pushing it in November.
Egg Pools
All of the Pokémon below can be Shiny. Note that each of the official lists ends with “and more,” so these are partial pools rather than complete charts.

- 5 km Adventure Sync: Tyrogue, Sableye, Budew
- 7 km: Galarian Meowth, Galarian Zigzagoon, Galarian Stunfisk

Research Breakthrough
Research Breakthrough encounters rotate weekly through season-themed Pokémon. The specific rotation has not been published.

New boxes appear in the Pokémon GO Web Store during the season. No contents announced.
What Has Not Been Announced
Worth being explicit about, since a lot of coverage blurs this line:
- Featured Pokémon for all three Community Days
- The date of the Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf Max Battle Day
- Dates and details for the Mega Squads event
- The full Paldea debut list beyond Maschiff and Mabosstiff
- The Research Breakthrough rotation
- Any seasonal catch, hatch, or Buddy bonuses
Season pages are typically followed by individual event posts in the weeks after launch. If you see a specific Community Day Pokémon named right now, it is a leak or a prediction, not an announcement.
What to Actually Do With This
Save your Mega Energy for the debuts
Mega Staraptor and Mega Chandelure are new, which means their Mega Energy only becomes obtainable when their raids go live. If you are sitting on Energy for species you have already Mega Evolved, there is no reason to burn it now, but do keep raid passes banked for the debut days. First Mega Evolutions cost the full Energy amount, and the discount only applies to repeats.
Mega Chandelure in particular is a Ghost and Fire attacker, which fills two roles at once, so it is the more useful of the two to prioritize if your passes are limited.
Plan Adventure Sync around the 10 km pool
Bagon and Druddigon in the 10 km Adventure Sync pool are both worth walking for, and Adventure Sync Eggs only arrive if you hit your weekly walking distance. Turning it on in mid-September and forgetting about it is the low-effort version of this.
Push GO Pass rank in September, not November
Because the milestone bonuses last until the GO Pass ends, unlocking double Daily Adventure Incense duration at Rank 50 in week two gives you roughly ten weeks of the bonus. Unlocking it in week ten gives you a few days.
A concrete example
Say it is Saturday, September 12, and you are heading out for the Community Day Classic. Before you go, you check your GO Pass and see you are at Rank 24. Finishing one more Pass Task pushes you to Rank 25, which raises your Gift limits for the rest of the season. You spin stops during the three event hours, come home with a full Gift inventory you could not have held that morning, and those Gifts turn into 7 km Eggs with a chance at Galarian Meowth, Zigzagoon, or Stunfisk. The Community Day itself is unchanged, but one task beforehand changed what the day was worth.
Tracking a Season This Wide
Twilight Trails spreads across three Community Days, at least two Mega debuts, a Max Battle Day, six or more Egg pools with partial lists, and a weekly Research Breakthrough rotation. Most of it is Shiny-eligible, and some of it, like a Community Day Classic Shiny with an exclusive move, is worth flagging separately from an ordinary catch of the same species.
In-game storage does not distinguish between those. A Shiny Maschiff you hatched, a Shiny Maschiff you caught, and one you traded for all sit in the same box looking identical. Working out what you already have, and which of a dozen duplicates is actually the one worth keeping for Great League, means checking them one at a time.
