This update adds a Perfect CP section to the details screen. It shows the CP a Pokémon has with perfect 15/15/15 IVs for each kind of encounter, so you can tell a hundo from the catch screen before you throw a ball.
The last update was about PvP IVs (GoDex 1.3: A PvP IV Verdict and the Full IV Rank List). That covers Pokémon you’ve already caught. This one is for the moment before you catch it.
Everything below is in version 1.4, out now on iOS and Android.
Perfect CP on the Details Screen
Some encounters always appear at a fixed level, so a 100% IV Pokémon from one of them always has the same CP. If the CP on the catch screen matches the perfect CP, you’re looking at a hundo.
Players usually look these numbers up on a chart before raid day. The details screen now shows them in a row of cards below the type effectiveness section, one for each fixed-level encounter:
- Research: level 15, for field research rewards
- Raid / Egg: level 20, for raids and hatched eggs
- Boosted: level 25, for raids under a weather boost
- Shadow: level 8, for Shadow Pokémon caught after beating Team GO Rocket
- Boosted Shadow: level 13, for the same encounter under a weather boost
The Shadow cards carry the purple Shadow flame, and the boosted cards carry a weather icon. The row scrolls sideways if all five don’t fit on your screen.
The section is hidden for Mega and Primal forms. You never encounter those in the wild or in raids, so no catch screen would ever show their perfect CP.
Reading the Cards
Take Dialga, which is in five-star raids right now. Its cards show CP 2307 for a raid and CP 2884 when the weather boosts it.
Say you beat a Dialga raid under partly cloudy weather, which doesn’t boost Steel or Dragon types. If the catch screen shows 2307, it’s a hundo. Spend your Golden Razz Berries and best throws on it.
If it shows 2302 or 2299, it’s one IV point short. That’s still an excellent raid attacker, but not a perfect one.
A raid Pokémon has a level 20 card and a level 25 card because weather can change the level of an encounter. If Dialga’s raid is boosted by windy weather, compare against the Boosted card instead. See Pokémon GO weather boost for which weather boosts which types.
The cards follow the form you have selected. Switch to a regional form or a different forme on the details screen and the CPs update to match.
Updated Pokémon Data
This version also refreshes the app’s Pokémon data. That covers newly released forms, the Great League and Ultra League PvP rankings, and the raid attacker rankings. There’s nothing to do on your end. The new data loads the first time you open the app after updating, and your collection stays as it was.
What to Do After Updating
Check this week’s raid boss before you raid. Open its details screen and note both the Raid and Boosted CPs. Then you’ll know straight away whether a catch is a hundo.
Use it during Team GO Rocket battles. Shadow Pokémon have fixed levels too. Before you start throwing balls at a Shadow you want, compare its CP with the Shadow cards.
Check eggs and research rewards. A hatched Pokémon or a field research reward with the perfect CP is worth keeping, even if you already have plenty of that species.
Key Takeaways
- The details screen now shows perfect CP for research, raids, eggs, Shadow Pokémon, and weather-boosted encounters.
- A catch-screen CP that matches the card means a hundo. You can tell before the catch, without an appraisal.
- Compare boosted encounters with the Boosted cards, since weather raises the encounter’s level.
- Pokémon data is refreshed, including new forms and updated PvP and raid rankings.
The update is live now. Look up your next raid boss before the lobby fills.
