Pokémon GO Harvest Festival 2026 is live now. It started Tuesday, September 29, at 10:00 a.m. and ends Monday, October 5, at 8:00 p.m. local time. For the first time, Applin can be Shiny.
Shiny Applin is the headline, but the bigger change is how apples work. During the event, Mossy Lure Modules attract only apples, and those apples are where you get the Tart, Sweet, and Syrupy Apples needed to evolve Applin. Last year’s paid Timed Research is gone, and its longer Mossy Lure bonus now sits at Rank 10 of the free GO Pass.
This guide covers what the announcement confirms, what it leaves out, and how to use the days you have left.
Pokémon GO Harvest Festival 2026: Confirmed Event Details
Everything in this section comes from the official Harvest Festival 2026 announcement, unless marked otherwise.
Dates and deadlines
- September 29, 10:00 a.m.: event and GO Pass started.
- October 5, 8:00 p.m.: event ends. Timed Research must be completed and claimed by this time.
- October 7, 8:00 p.m.: unclaimed GO Pass rewards expire.
All times are local.
Shiny Applin debut
Applin can be Shiny for the first time in Pokémon GO. The announcement marks Applin as Shiny-eligible in its wild encounter list.
The event’s Shiny boost is for Smoliv, not Applin. Expect Shiny Applin at the normal rate.
Wild spawns
Event-themed wild spawns include Skwovet, Lechonk, and Smoliv, with Applin as a rarer encounter. All four can be Shiny.
Apples and Mossy Lure Modules
During the event, Mossy Lure Modules only attract apples. Tapping an apple awards a Tart Apple, Sweet Apple, or Syrupy Apple, or an encounter with an event-themed Pokémon such as Applin or Cottonee wearing a flower crown.
Cottonee wearing a flower crown is not marked as Shiny-eligible in the announcement.
Event bonuses
- Increased Shiny chance for Smoliv for the whole event.
Three more bonuses unlock at GO Pass Major Milestones:
- Rank 1: caught Applin have a higher chance of holding Tart, Sweet, or Syrupy Apples.
- Rank 10: Mossy Lure Modules activated during the event last one hour.
- Rank 20: more Stardust from defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts and Leaders.
The announcement also says extra bonus tasks will be added to the pass during the event.
Research
Branching Timed Research: you choose one of three paths, and your choice decides which apples you receive: Tart, Sweet, or Syrupy. Complete and claim it before October 5 at 8:00 p.m.
Field Research: event-themed tasks award encounters with event-themed Pokémon. The species aren’t named.
GO Pass: Harvest Festival
The free GO Pass is added automatically. Its listed rewards include event encounters, apples, a Mossy Lure Module, and a Super Rocket Radar.
GO Pass Deluxe costs US$4.99, or US$6.99 for Deluxe + 6 Ranks, which awards enough GO Points to reach Rank 7. Deluxe adds more event encounters, apples, Mossy Lure Modules, and another Super Rocket Radar. Prices follow your local currency tier, and availability may vary by region.
You can upgrade at any time and still claim Deluxe rewards from ranks you’ve already unlocked.
Web Store gifts with purchase:
- Deluxe: 10 Ultra Balls, 5 Max Revives, 1 Premium Battle Pass, 5 Max Potions.
- Deluxe + 6 Ranks: the same, but with 2 Premium Battle Passes.
- Deluxe + 6 Ranks Ultra Box (web-exclusive): 20 Ultra Balls, 10 Max Revives, 10 Max Potions, 5 Premium Battle Passes.
A Web Store purchase activates when the pass begins. Since the pass is already running, check that Deluxe shows as unlocked after you buy.
Applin evolution costs
The 2026 announcement doesn’t list evolution costs, but the in-game evolve buttons during the event show the same price for all three of Applin’s evolutions:
- Appletun: 200 Applin Candy and 20 Sweet Apples.
- Flapple: 200 Applin Candy and 20 Tart Apples.
- Dipplin: 200 Applin Candy and 20 Syrupy Apples.
Hydrapple isn’t on Applin’s screen. The 2025 Harvest Festival announcement listed it at 400 Applin Candy, after catching seven Dragon-type Pokémon with Dipplin as your buddy. Check Dipplin’s evolve button before you plan around that.
What changed from 2025
| Feature | 2025 | 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Shiny Applin | Not available | Available in the wild |
| Shiny boosts | Pumpkaboo and Smoliv | Smoliv only |
| Mossy Lure apples | Increased chance of apples | Lures attract only apples |
| Longer Mossy Lures | 2× duration, US$4.99 Timed Research ticket | One hour, GO Pass Rank 10 |
| Timed Research | Paid ticket | Branching, not listed as paid |
| Candy bonus | 2× Candy with Pinap Berries | None listed |
| Collection Challenges | Included Syrupy Apples | Not mentioned |
| Team GO Rocket | Not featured | Super Rocket Radar, Rank 20 Stardust |
The missing candy bonus matters most. Applin Candy is the slow part of every Applin evolution, and this year there’s no event boost for it.
What the announcement doesn’t say
- Evolution costs. The in-game costs for Applin’s three evolutions are above, but Hydrapple’s isn’t confirmed for this year.
- How many apples each Timed Research branch gives.
- How much the Rank 1 bonus raises the apple chance, or which apple you get.
- How much extra Stardust Rank 20 gives, or whether Giovanni counts. Only Grunts and Leaders are named.
- Whether a Mossy Lure lit before Rank 10 is extended, or only ones lit afterward.
- Whether Eevee can still evolve into Leafeon at an apple-only Mossy Lure.
- Whether Cottonee wearing a flower crown can be Shiny.
- Which Pokémon appear in Field Research, or what the bonus pass tasks will be.
- Whether Applin from apples, research, or the pass can be Shiny. Only the wild list is marked.
- How many ranks the pass has.
Check in-game before planning around any of these.
What the Community Has Documented
These points come from community sources, not the announcement.
- Where apples appear: Bulbapedia notes that apples can show up near PokéStops, with a higher chance at stops with a Mossy Lure. That description dates from 2025. This year’s announcement only says Mossy Lures attract apples, so don’t count on finding many without one.
- Mossy Lure length: the standard Mossy Lure has long lasted 30 minutes, which makes the Rank 10 bonus a doubling.
Practical Application: Planning Your Remaining Days
With the event already running, the order you do things in matters more than how much you play.
Example: you want Dipplin and then Hydrapple. With this year’s Dipplin cost and last year’s Hydrapple cost, that’s 20 Syrupy Apples and 600 Applin Candy in total. You pick the Syrupy path in the Timed Research, reach Rank 10, then place a Mossy Lure. For the next hour, that stop draws only apples. Each one you tap is either an apple or an encounter, and every Applin you catch adds candy. Once you have a Dipplin, set it as your buddy. Applin is part Dragon-type, so each Applin you catch afterward counts toward the seven Dragon-type catches Hydrapple needed in 2025.
A few rules follow from this:
- Reach Rank 10 before lighting a Mossy Lure. The announcement doesn’t confirm that a Lure already running gets extended.
- Stay at the Lure and tap every apple. Lures attract only apples this year, and apples are the main source of evolution items and Applin encounters.
- Pick your Timed Research path by your target. Tart for Flapple, Sweet for Appletun, Syrupy for Dipplin. If you already own all three, choose the apple you have the fewest of.
- Use Pinap Berries on every Applin. No event candy bonus is listed this year, and candy is usually the slowest part of an Applin evolution.
- Reach Rank 1 before catching Applin. It’s the first milestone, so it’s easy, and it raises the chance that each Applin holds an apple.
- Save Team GO Rocket battles for Rank 20. The extra Stardust covers Grunts and Leaders. The pass’s Super Rocket Radar is for Giovanni, who isn’t named in the bonus.
- Hunt Shiny Smoliv while you play. It’s the only boosted Shiny. Shiny Applin is new but at the normal rate, so don’t spend Incense chasing it alone.
- Watch the 8:00 p.m. end. The event and Timed Research both end on October 5 at 8:00 p.m., not 10:00 a.m.
GO Pass: October starts the next morning, October 6, so finish this pass’s ranks before your attention moves to Kyogre. The next pass event after that is Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek, starting October 13.
Tracking Your Applin and Event Catches
An hour at a Mossy Lure can turn up a dozen Applin, and each one could become any of three evolutions. After a few sessions, it’s hard to remember which Applin had the good IVs, which one you meant for Dipplin, or whether you already have a Shiny Smoliv.
A tracker like GoDex keeps that organized. You can scan a catch screenshot to read CP and IVs, tag Shiny or costumed catches like Cottonee wearing a flower crown, and add a note to each Applin with its planned evolution. Before spending candy, you can also check how its IVs rank for Great, Ultra, or Little Cup.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Applin be Shiny in Pokémon GO? Yes. Harvest Festival 2026 is Shiny Applin’s debut. It’s marked Shiny-eligible in the wild, but the event’s Shiny boost is for Smoliv, not Applin.
Do Mossy Lures attract Pokémon during the Harvest Festival? Only apples. Tapping an apple can give an evolution item or an encounter with an event Pokémon such as Applin or Cottonee wearing a flower crown.
Which Timed Research path should I pick? The one that matches the evolution you want: Tart for Flapple, Sweet for Appletun, or Syrupy for Dipplin.
Do I need GO Pass Deluxe for the one-hour Mossy Lure? No. The bonus unlocks at Rank 10 of the event GO Pass. Deluxe + 6 Ranks only gets you to Rank 7, so you still need to earn the rest.
When does Harvest Festival 2026 end? Monday, October 5, at 8:00 p.m. local time. GO Pass rewards can be claimed until October 7 at 8:00 p.m.
