Pokémon GO Dynamax Trails 2026: Eternatus and Eternamax

Dynamax Trails 2026 runs November 16 to 23 with every past Dynamax Pokémon back in Max Battles, a catchable Eternatus on the GO Pass, and Eternamax Eternatus taking over Power Spots on November 21. What is confirmed and how to plan the week.

Pokémon GO Dynamax Trails 2026 runs from Monday, November 16, at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, November 23, at 8:00 p.m. local time. It’s a week of Max Battles: every Dynamax Pokémon seen in the game so far may return, excluding Legendary and Mythical Pokémon.

The headline is Eternatus. You can catch it once, through GO Pass: Dynamax Trails. On Saturday, November 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Eternamax Eternatus takes over most Power Spots. You can’t catch that one, but defeating it gives a large amount of Eternatus Candy and Candy XL for the Eternatus you get from the pass.

If you claimed the first tier of rewards on GO Pass: Into the Wild, you get early access on Saturday, November 14, and a free upgrade to GO Pass Deluxe.

All times below are local unless marked PST.

Max Particles can’t come from catches made with the Explorer Gadget or a Pokémon GO Plus +.

Wild encounters

Event-themed Pokémon appear in the wild, including any Pokémon that has debuted in Dynamax Max Battles. Legendary and Mythical Pokémon are excluded.

Max Battles

  • Every Dynamax Pokémon that has appeared in Pokémon GO may appear in Max Battles, excluding Legendary and Mythical Pokémon.
  • A successful catch after a Max Battle has a chance of getting a Special Background. It shows on the Pokémon’s summary page with the date it was caught.

For how Max Battles work, see the Dynamax guide.

Spotlight Hour (Thursday, November 19, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.)

  • Featured: Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble.
  • Bonus: 2× Catch Candy.
  • All three can be Shiny.

Field Research and stickers

  • Event-themed Field Research rewards Stardust, Eternatus Candy and encounters with event-themed Pokémon.
  • Event-themed stickers come from spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts, the in-game shop and GO Pass progress.

Eternatus Returns (Saturday, November 21, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.)

  • Eternatus is the Poison- and Dragon-type Legendary. You encounter it by progressing through GO Pass: Dynamax Trails.
  • It can only be caught once during this event.
  • If you already have Eternatus, you get 100 Eternatus Candy instead of the encounter.
  • Eternatus needs much more Candy and Candy XL than usual to power up.
  • Eternamax Eternatus takes over the majority of Power Spots during the three-hour window. You can’t catch it, but defeating it gives a large amount of Eternatus Candy and Candy XL.

Bonuses listed for Eternatus Returns:

  • Power Spots refresh more frequently.
  • Max Particle collection limit raised to 2,400.
  • 8× Max Particles from Power Spots.

GO Pass: Dynamax Trails

Every Trainer gets the free GO Pass automatically at 10:00 a.m. on November 16. Complete Pass Tasks to earn GO Points and rank up until 8:00 p.m. on November 23. For how the Pass works in general, see the GO Pass: October guide.

Free GO Pass rewards:

  • Encounters with event-themed Dynamax Pokémon with a Special Background
  • An Eternatus encounter, or 100 Eternatus Candy if you already have one
  • Eternatus Candy and Candy XL

GO Pass Deluxe (US$4.99) adds:

  • Rare Candy XL
  • Stickers and more

Trainers who claimed the first tier of rewards on GO Pass: Into the Wild are upgraded to Deluxe for free. You can upgrade at any time and still collect rewards from ranks you already unlocked. Prices are in US dollars or the equivalent tier in your local currency, and availability may vary by region.

A Deluxe pass bought on the Web Store activates as soon as the GO Pass begins, and comes with 10 Ultra Balls, five Max Revives, one Premium Battle Pass and five Max Potions.

Milestone bonuses

GO Pass milestoneBonus
Tier 1, Rank 152× Catch Stardust
Tier 2, Rank 351/2 Candy and Stardust to activate the Dynamax Cannon Adventure Effect
Tier 3, Rank 55Additional Candy and Candy XL from Max Battles

The announcement also says to watch for additional bonus tasks on this GO Pass during the event.

What isn’t stated

  • Which GO Pass rank gives the Eternatus encounter.
  • Whether the Power Spot refresh, 2,400 cap and 8× Max Particles run only on November 21 or all week. They’re listed under Eternatus Returns but introduced as active “during the event.”
  • Whether the Remote Raid limit increase applies to Max Battles.
  • How much Eternatus Candy and Candy XL one Eternamax win gives.
  • Max Battle tiers and team size for Eternamax Eternatus.
  • Shiny odds, and whether wild or Max Battle spawns can be Shiny.
  • The Field Research task list, how many GO Points each Pass Task gives, and what the additional bonus tasks are.

How to Get Eternatus and Eternatus Candy

There are two separate Eternatus encounters this week, and they do different jobs:

  • Eternatus (GO Pass): the one you can catch. One per Trainer. If you already own one, the pass gives 100 Eternatus Candy instead.
  • Eternamax Eternatus (Max Battles, Nov 21, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.): can’t be caught. Each win gives a large amount of Eternatus Candy and Candy XL.

So the GO Pass gets you Eternatus, and Eternamax Max Battles pay for powering it up. Eternatus Candy also comes from the GO Pass itself (more with Deluxe) and from event Field Research.

Because Eternatus can only be caught once, there’s no rerolling a low-IV one this event. If you already have one, every source this week is about Candy.

The Rank 55 milestone adds extra Candy and Candy XL from Max Battles. If you reach it before Saturday, your Eternamax wins should pay out more. The announcement doesn’t say exactly how much.

Practical Application: Plan Your Dynamax Trails Week

Example: Saturday, November 21, is the busiest day of the month. Eternamax Eternatus runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Pawniard Community Day starts right after, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. If you spend the morning on Eternamax Max Battles, you go straight into Community Day with your Eternatus Candy banked. Community Day also needs one Dark- or Steel-type raid win by 9:00 p.m. for the Kingambit evolution, and the Remote Raid limit is 30 until 6:00 p.m. PST that day. On the West Coast, that covers the whole Community Day window, so a remote Darkrai raid works. In Eastern time, the boost lasts until 9:00 p.m.

A few rules follow from this:

  • Spend Max Particles before Saturday. The cap rises to 2,400 and Power Spots give 8× Max Particles during Eternatus Returns. Starting Saturday near empty means less waste.
  • Rank up early. Rank 15 turns on 2× Catch Stardust, and Rank 55 adds extra Candy and Candy XL from Max Battles. Every rank you reach before Saturday makes Eternamax wins worth more.
  • Wait for Rank 35 before using Dynamax Cannon. It halves the Candy and Stardust cost of the Adventure Effect.
  • Catch by hand when you want Max Particles. Explorer Gadget and GO Plus + catches don’t give them.
  • Check your Into the Wild pass. If you claimed its first tier of rewards, you start on November 14 with Deluxe already unlocked.
  • Claim rewards by November 25. Ranking stops at 8:00 p.m. on November 23, and anything unclaimed disappears at 8:00 p.m. on November 25.
  • Plan Thursday evening for the Galar starters. Spotlight Hour runs 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on November 19 with 2× Catch Candy. Sunny weather boosts Grookey and Scorbunny, and Rainy boosts Sobble. Boosted catches give more Stardust and can appear at higher levels. See the weather boost guide.

Tracking Your Dynamax Trails Catches

A week where every past Dynamax Pokémon can return, each with a chance at a Special Background, makes it hard to remember which ones you already have. Dynamax and regular versions of the same Pokémon also sit side by side in storage.

A tracker like GoDex can help. Scan catch screenshots to log each Dynamax Pokémon and Special Background, and see which ones you still need before the event ends.
